Selecting your Wedding Cake

Below are the most frequently asked questions. If you have any other questions please contact us.

Wedding Consultations?

These are by appointment only at our Mt Eden Store or Takapuna store.
This appointments gives you an uninterrupted 30 minutes to discuss your cake and for you to try the flavours. There is a $40.00 charge for this service and if the cake is purchased this amount is deducted from the cost of the cake.
We suggest that you come to the consultation with some ideas about what you would like. If you have any colour swatches or visuals you would like to discuss please bring them along.
If you are looking for a budget figure we can do this by email or you can establish this by looking thorough our cakes as all cakes are priced.
The purpose of this consultation is for you to try and the cakes and with our 14 years experience we can give you information and guidance around the Wedding cake.
Please call for an appointment: Mt Eden (09) 638-6499 or Takapuna 489-8833.

If you want to try our cakes you are welcome to come into our stores at any time to do so.

Serving Suggestions?

This will depend on the way your Wedding is designed but if you are serving a multi coursed menu and are already serving dessert we suggest you do not serve your cake after this. Serving suggestions are between the ceremony and the main food being served while the Bride and Groom are having the photos taken or preplan your menu and cut back on dessert and include the cake here. Some couples have a function the next day and it is great to have the cake on display at the Wedding but serve it at the second celebration. We do cover all these options at the consultation but this should be an early part of your planning around the cake.

Email Enquiries?

When you email us for information regarding a Wedding cake, please supply us with the following information so that we can correctly reply to you:

Flavours?

Fondant is a sweet neutral pliable icing that can be molded or coloured.
It is not marzipan or almond icing which is the layer you will find under fondant on most fruit cakes.
Fondant will not alter the taste of a cake and is soft and creamy. When we use fondant under it we use either white chocolate butter cream or chocolate ganache. Any of our flavours can go under fondant and the taste is in the cake not the icing. We also ice cakes with butter cream and this can be flavoured with white chocolate, passion fruit or lemon or vanilla.

Cup cakes?

These can be decorated in many ways and we offer chocolate, passion fruit or coffee flavours. If you want this option but still want a cake to cut, we hire stands where the top cake will sit above the cupcakes. This is generally a well priced option for up to 60 guests and after that a standard cake becomes more economical. See our section under cup cakes for ideas and stands.
For a quote on cupcakes select the design and email us with numbers.

Fresh Flowers on Cakes?

If you want fresh flowers on your cake these will need to be provided by your florist. Either to us or they can go on at the Venue
We can recommend some good Auckland Florists that will assist you with this.

Booking your Cake?

The summer period November to April is considered the Wedding Season.
For this period it is advisable to book 3 months in advance to be sure to secure a date. Outside of this period one months notice is sufficient.
To secure the booking for your cake you will need to place a deposit on the order. This deposit is half with the balance payable the week prior to collection or the wedding date. After booking your cake you will be emailed a typed confirmation stating all the details, as we understand the order to be. Please check this very carefully for colours, serves, flavours etc. Terms and conditions plus transportation instructions (if appropriate) will also be in this email. Changes to your order, including style, colour or flavours can be made up to one month prior to the Wedding date.

Collection or Deliveries?

We advise you to collect your cake and take it straight to the Wedding Venue. It is a delicate item and should not be moved any more than necessary. It is packed in a hard box and is easily transportable. If you should require a delivery options we can quote on this. Deliveries are Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm outside of these times a surcharge will apply. If you require any assistance, or wish to discuss these options further please contact us.

Pricing Guidelines for our Wedding Cakes?

All of the cakes on the website have prices against them. Cakes that are labeled 'this size only' cannot be larger. Cakes in our Simple range have limitations in sizes and flavours. If you want a larger size of the other cakes please email us with numbers for a quotation. Cup cakes packages are by quotation and will depend of numbers and style.
